SUGAR PINE STAGING AREA

This is a main staging rea for the Foresthill OHV trails. The large gravel parking lot is the best location for day users to park and for RV or toy hauler camping. There are no hookups or water. There is a vault toilet and trash containers. Loading ramps are available. The usage is heave, no fees, no water, and closest town is Foresthill. MAMMOTH BAR OHV AREA

This area is part of the Auburn State Recreation Area. It is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills just outside of Auburn, CA. This area offers picnic tables, BBQ’s, chemical toilets, but NO drinking water. Use of these trails is restricted to Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays during the summer season and additionally on Fridays from October 1 through March 31 seasonally. The reopened trails include Ranch, River Bar, Stonewall, Rocky, Castle Rock, Hillside, Squaw Flat and the 90cc Track. Non-motorized day use and river access at Auburn State Recreation Area is available seven days per week from 8 a. to Sunset. The entrance is located on Old Foresthill Road. The easiest access is off I80 north of Auburn. Take the Foresthill exit off I80 and go east about 2.5 miles to the Old Foresthill Rd. Turn right on Old Foresthill Rd. and the entrance is about 1.5 miles on the left. Be sure to have the proper licensing and fee is $10 for day use. FORESTHILL OHV AREA

There are logging operations in the area, so be alert. There are nearly 100 miles OHV trail system suitable for both motorcycles and ATV’s less that 50 inches in overall width. There is little or no four-wheel-drive country in the district. The trail system is mostly east to moderate routes, with a few miles of difficult, challenging trails. There is no flat track or motor cross arena. This system is trail riding out in the woods. There are three Staging areas to access the trail system, Parker Flat, Sugar Pine and China Wall. Be sure to have the proper registration, USES approved spark arrestor and green sticker. There are no fees, heavy usage and the closest town is Foresthill. There are vault toilets at staging areas. CHINA WALL STAGING AREA

China Wall is used as a staging area in summer by 2-wheeled OHV dirt bikes and motorcycles. The trail is not wide enough to accommodate quad OHV’s. This area offers toilets and parting. Usage is medium to heave. Closed from January 1 to March 31. There is no water and the closest town in Foresthill. Parking: there are two adjacent parking lots. The first lot is suitable for toy haulers and vehicles towning trailers, while standard passenger vehicles should park in the second lot. Prohibited is parking on the shoulder or blocking the gate.
