FISHING
The type of fish is Rainbow Trout and bass in the Middle Fork. The North Fork is only fair due to the low flows during the warmer months.. The river may be accessed from the following trails located on Foresthill Divide Road: Mumford Bar Trail, Italian Bar Trail and Beacroft Trail. Access is on foot or by horseback. Motorized access is not allowed on this Wild & Scenic River. There are no developed campgrounds located near the river, campers need a California Campfire permit for open fires or stoves and my be subject to fire restrictions, Please pack in and pack out. Access to this river in other areas is limited by steeps canyons. Trails leading to the river are steep and difficult hikes. Please use caution and bring plenty of water. The day use fee is $10 or use your annual Poppy pass. Day use is from 7 a. to Sunset.
RIVER + STREAM FISHING
The great majority of the streams located in the Tahoe National Forest do not receive planting of trout, but support limited natural trout fisheries. Rivers and streams that are on the forest flow through sections of private land, please respect the rights of the private land owners when accessing these streams. Be sure to check California Dept. of Fish and Game for fishing regulations for state license requirements and any special regulations for the waters you fish. The American River Ranger District office is available and offer information.

ROOSTER TAILS FISHING CLUB OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
The Rooster Tails Fishing Club of Northern California, Incorporated, is a modern large organization that welcomes both men and women anglers with novice to expert fishing abilities. Our membership fishes mostly North Central California freshwaters as well as the Delta and adjoining ocean. The goal of the Rooster Tails is to provide members and guests with fishing related information in a fun, informal, and entertaining fashion. We achieve this goal through the regular monthly third Friday breakfast meetings with expert fishing related guest speakers. Besides fishing, our members share in many fun activities including camping, adventure travel, and family events. Member’s fun and camaraderie have created many life-long friendships that have enhanced each individual’s fishing experience.
